Our time at SXSW came and went, and what a time it was: The Warby Parker Citizen’s Circus offered three days and nights of 1920s-themed revelry; an oasis from the chaos of downtown Austin.
We sold our eyewear in a striped yurt on campus, Rock the Vote encouraged people to be counted, Ruvan Wijesooriya’s Scene and Herd exhibited photography based on music and debauchery, The Greenhorns brought farm fresh goods and a new perspective, Nikki Lane’s High Class Hillbilly mobile store had the girls bedecked in vintage goods, Jack White’s Third Man Records drew a crowd with their yellow Rolling Record Store, almost twenty bands played live on stage during the day, and of course, The Citizens Band put on a show! Karen Elson, Sarah Sophie Flicker, Zoe Kravitz, and the rest of the dynamic ensemble wowed us three nights in a row with their memorable melodies, Vaudeville moves, and aerial stunts—all in the name of a cause.
